Two classical, damped and driven spin oscillators with an isotropic exchange interaction are considered. They represent a nontrivial physical system whose equations of motion are shown to allow for an analytic treatment of local codi-mension 1 and 2 bifurcations. In addition, numerical results are presented which exhibit a Feigenbaum route to chaos.
متن کاملTwo-cluster bifurcations in systems of globally pulse-coupled oscillators
For a system of globally pulse-coupled phase-oscillators, we derive conditions for stability of the completely synchronous state and all possible two-cluster states and explain how the different states are naturally connected via bifurcations. The coupling is modeled using the phaseresponse-curve (PRC), which measures the sensitivity of each oscillator’s phase to perturbations. For large system...
متن کاملIsochronicity-induced bifurcations in systems of weakly dissipative coupled oscillators
We consider the dynamics of networks of oscillators that are weakly dissipative perturbations of identical Hamiltonian oscillators with weak coupling. Suppose the Hamiltonian oscillators have angular frequency ω(α) when their energy is α. We address the problem of what happens in a neighbourhood of where dω/dα = 0; we refer to this as a point of isochronicity for the oscillators. If the couplin...
متن کاملBifurcations in the Dynamics of Two Coupled Van Der Pol Oscillators with Delay Coupling
We investigate the dynamics of a system of two van der Pol oscillators with delayed velocity coupling. We use the method of averaging to reduce the problem to the study of a slowow in three dimensions. We study the steady state solutions of this slow ow, with special attention given to the bifurcations accompanying their change in number and stability. Our interest in this system is due to its ...
متن کاملBifurcations and Singularities for Coupled Oscillators with Inertia and Frustration.
We prove that any nonzero inertia, however small, is able to change the nature of the synchronization transition in Kuramoto-like models, either from continuous to discontinuous or from discontinuous to continuous. This result is obtained through an unstable manifold expansion in the spirit of Crawford, which features singularities in the vicinity of the bifurcation. Far from being unwanted art...
